Welcome and Orientation program for new employees at VKIST

Recruitment and human resource development, especially for the R&D Divisions, is one of the top priorities of VKIST. From March 1st to 2nd, 2021, VKIST has organized the welcome and orientation program for 6 new members selected in the 4th public employee recruitment in the fields of Electronics and Bio-technology (BT).

In the last recruitment batch of 2020, VKIST has received 52 applications, among which there were 24 qualified candidates. After thorough examination, VKIST selected 6 candidates, including 4 people in the field of Electronics and 2 people in in the field of BT. All of them are top-notch researchers and technicians with a wide breadth of experience and expertise graduated with bachelor’s and/or master’s degrees from prestigious domestic and foreign universities.

Despite being on his overseas business trip, VKIST President, Dr. Kum Dongwha attended an online meeting with all members to send congratulations and greetings to new employees. “We are very pleased to have all of you as the official members of VKIST, where we will nurture dreams and passion for science together. I hope all members will try their best to make VKIST become the leading research institute in Vietnam in the field of applied science and advanced technology development contributing to the industry and sustainable economic advancement. You are critical factors to help VKIST realize its mission and live up to the expectance of both Governments”, said Dr. Kum Dongwha.

Besides welcome ceremony, VKIST organized a short orientation program with the aim of familiarizing new employees with the culture, core values and work at VKIST. During the program, VKIST leaders have presented about basic information about VKIST and its special mechanism; the history of formation and development of VKIST and KIST as well as the cooperation between 2 institutes; general introduction about the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), including its organizational structure and Departments and organizations under MOST that VKIST often coordinates with; introduction into the specific job that new members will undertake at VKIST.

After each presentation, there was the time for Q&A section when new members can ask questions and discuss with VKIST leaders. The participants were highly interested and engaged in the section by actively asking questions to VKIST leaders so that they can understand the development orientation, organizational structure and working culture at VKIST.

New researchers are especially interested in the presentation of Dr. Truong Thi Ngoc Lien - Head of IT-BT convergence technology Division, in which she shared her research and application directions in a territory that few domestic research groups have explored. Dr. Lien also shared about one of the topic her laboratory is carrying out at the moment namely “Development of Magnetic Core/Shell Fe3O4@Au-based Lateral Flow Immunoassay (MagLFIA) strip for on-site detection of avian influenza viruses (AIVs)”. This together with other presentations of VKIST leaders help equip new employees with basic knowledge regarding the plan and direction of VKIST in the coming time.

Dr. Lien hoped that new employees will always persevere in their work and contribute to the thriving of VKIST in the future.

Representing the new employees, Mr. Nguyen Van An - new member of the Electronics Division, expressed his sincere thanks to VKIST for the warm welcome and professional recruitment. Mr. An also shared the feeling of pride in working in a dynamic environment, with a clear vision, mission, and professional working style. Hopefully, with the accumulated knowledge and experience, new researchers will contribute to the development of VKIST.

At the end of the program, the new members presented their feelings about the orientation program and proposed future work directions and how they can contribute to VKIST.

The welcome and orientation program is one of the signature events of VKIST which was maintained during the past time with the aim of helping the new recruits understand VKIST better in the sense of its functions and tasks, organizational structure, working culture, etc. The program was also designed to spread the working spirit and enhance the solidarity of all members at VKIST. This good start laid a stepping-stone to the awaiting journey of new employees at VKIST.
