VKIST was founded under the Decree No. 50/2015/ND-CP dated May 18th, 2015 of the Government on the establishment of the Vietnam - Korea Institute of Science and Technology and operated following the Decision No.1131/QD-BKHCN dated May 11th, 2017 of the Minister of Science and Technology promulgating the Charter of Organization and Operation of the Vietnam - Korea Institute of Science and Technology.
VKIST focuses on applied scientific research and the development of multi-disciplinary advanced technologies pertaining to industry and sustainable economic advancements. VKIST aims to provide hi-tech solutions and human resource to enterprises and economic technical sectors.

General Introduction

VKIST is a new public agency on science and technology under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). It has been established through a joint project between Vietnamese and Korean Governments following the Presidential Agreement on September 9, 2013.

Goal

Develop new paradigm (VKIST-model) as an industrial R/D institute in Vietnam benchmarking the KIST model in Korea

Major Duty and Function

The Institute is commissioned to conduct high-level research and development on applied sciences and multi-disciplinary technologies for industrial application, and to provide advanced technical services and high-quality human resources to enterprises and the technical-economic sectors.

Established based on the Agreement between Governments of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea

Location: Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, Ha Noi (Area: 196,913m2)

Budget: $70M ($35M by Korea + $35M by Vietnam)

Period: 2014 ~ 2020 (extended two years)
