Attending the meeting, on the VKIST side, there were Mr. Vu Duc Loi – Vice President of VKIST, Mr. Phuong Thien Thuong – Vice President of VKIST concurrently Head of Biotechnology Division, Ms. Hoang Hien Hau – Head of Administration Division, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan – Head of Planning and Coordination Division. On the Korean side, there were Mr. Lee Seok Bong – Vice Mayor and other delegates of Daejeon City, and Ms. Seo Mi Young – Deputy Country Director of KOICA Vietnam.

On behalf of VKIST Leaders, Mr. Vu Duc Loi warmly welcomed the delegation from Daejeon city and introduced briefly about the missions, vision and R&D orientation of VKIST.

“As the first applied research institute in Vietnam benchmarking the model of Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), VKIST is focusing its research capacity on developing fields such as information technology, biotechnology, electronics, food technology, advanced materials and environment technology, etc. Currently, VKIST is increasingly expanding its scale and cooperating with domestic and foreign S&T organizations and enterprises to conduct market research activities. We know that in Daejeon city, there are many important research centers in Korea. In particular, with a prime location that is only about 60 minutes away from Seoul by train, Daejeon is Korea's gateway for exchanges with the world. Therefore, we highly appreciate Daejeon's potential, especially its potential in the fields of science, technology and innovation," said Mr. Vu Duc Loi.

At the meeting, Mr. Lee Seok Bong - Vice Mayor of Daejeon city also introduced about Daejeon city - the capital of science and technology of Korea. This place is known as the Silicon Valley of Korea and Asia because of the concentration of famous research facilities such as LG Research Institute, Samsung, KAIST, Chungnam University, Expo Technology Park... Daejeon is certainly a potential partner that will help VKIST further promote its role as the nucleus connecting institutes, schools and enterprises of the two countries, and promoting the exchange of knowledge and technology between Vietnam and Korea.
The working session ended well, the two sides expressed their belief that this visit would be the sound basis for future cooperative relationship of VKIST and S&T organizations as well as businesses in Daejeon city, contributing to bringing the strategic partnership between the two countries to a new height.
