Vietnam Anti-Doping Agency visited and worked with VKIST

On the afternoon of September 20, 2022, Vietnam Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) visited and worked at VKIST to discuss future cooperation directions between both sides.

Attending the meeting, on VKIST side, there were Mr. Vu Duc Loi – Vice President and several Heads of related Division. On VADA side, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Phu - Director and related specialists.

Overview of the meeting

At the meeting, Vice President Vu Duc Loi expressed his pleasure when VKIST welcomed VADA representatives to visit and discuss potential cooperation opportunities. “As the nuclear promoting the flow of knowledge and technology transfer between Vietnam and Korea, VKIST hopes that it can contribute to the work of VADA in particular and the country's sports industry in general by facilitating the connection with Korean partners in exchanging knowledge and helping each other fight against doping in sports in both countries. More important, VKIST has a close relationship with Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), where there is the Doping Control Center, a WADA-certified laboratory equipped with world-class sports doping analysis technology for for domestic and international sporting events, including the Olympics. This meeting opens up an opportunity to develop a good relationship and will be the first step for the long-term cooperation between VKIST and VADA” – Vice President Vu Duc Loi shared.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phu - Director of VADA thanked VKIST for taking the time to receive the delegation. He shared that VADA was established in 2011 with the function of researching, testing, preventing and fighting against doping in physical education and sports; as well as conducting medical examination, treatment and rehabilitation for athletes and people participating in physical training and sports activities. Recently, VADA signed a MoU with the Korea Anti-Doping Agency (KADA) to facilitate the integrity of sport in an effective and sustainable manner.

At the meeting, both sides have discussed and agreed to cooperate on implementing annual doping testing; as well as conducting test and evaluation of the safety and effectiveness of functional foods supporting athletes and people participating in physical training and sports activities.

Both sides believed that this visit not only marked the beginning of cooperative relationship between two organizations but also potentially contributed to the promotion of anti-doping and fair-play spirit in sport.
