V-KIST: Start a new type of research institute model

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam emphasized that in order to bring science and technology (S&T) achievements to life quickly, there must be a strong innovation in the mechanism, management, administration and working methods of Science and Technology research organizations.

In the morning of November 21th, Deputy Prime Minister attended the kick-off ceremony of the Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology (V-KIST).

This is Korea's largest non-refundable ODA project for Vietnam to promote S&T cooperation between the two countries, meeting Vietnam's development needs.

Operating under the model of Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), V-KIST is expected to become a provider of technology and solutions for businesses that dominate the market in Vietnam. This will be a friendly environment for research, each scientist is given the best conditions to freely carry out their work. V-KIST will also build an open research network to mobilize the cooperation of experts and scientists working in institutes, universities and businesses to promote the commercialization of research products.

During its operation, V-KIST will receive management and operational support following the model of an international-scale research institute.

Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh affirmed that he would create favorable conditions for V-KIST to operate most effectively and practically, serving industries and Vietnam's economy.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that the introduction of V-KIST shows the urgent need for a strong innovation in management, management and working methods in research in Vietnam aims to quickly bring S&T achievements into life, meeting the requirements of innovation. Therefore, it is necessary to have a new model of scientific research organization, not only to solve some important issues in the immediate future, but also to form a "research" network and establish a new research operation network.

“V-KIST's mission not only contributes to the development of Vietnam but the Government expects that a new model, method, approach and research of science and technology will gradually spread out good values. the whole society ”, Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Wishing that V-KIST leaders and researchers will overcome difficulties to make a worthy and real contribution to the cause of S&T innovation in particular and the development of Vietnam in general, the Deputy Prime Minister also "orders" V-KIST will report every 3 months, make recommendations and offers to the Government in the field of science and technology, innovation.

* At the kick-off ceremony, V-KIST leaders signed a memorandum of understanding with KIST; signed a memorandum of cooperation with Hanoi National University, Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, Viettel, Traphaco Company.
