Training course on State management skills in science and technology for VKIST staff

With the aim of fostering and improving administrative knowledge, skills and international integration in science and technology (S&T), VKIST in coordination with Vietnam Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (VISTI) organized a training course on State management skills in S&T at VKIST Headquarters from March 16th to April 23th, 2021.

Attending the training course were 38 staff from VKIST’s Research and Administration Divisions. Main lecture topics include the Party's lines and policies and the State's policies on S&T development; text editing skills; international cooperation and integration in S&T; Advisory Council in S&T fields; the mechanism of transferring S&T research results ownership funded by the State Budget; communication and negotiation skills in S&T and S&T management related issues. These basic and critical knowledge were delivered by leaders and former leaders of relevant units under the Ministry of Science and Technology through a training course organized by VISTI.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, VKIST President Kum Dongwha emphasized that the continuous updating, training and fostering administrative skills for public employees are regular and meaningful tasks that positively contributes to the improvement of VKIST staff’s qualifications, capacity, quality and efficiency. He also suggested that the trainees strictly obey the training course’s rule to acquire useful knowledge and working skills after the course.

Within the framework of the training course, the President introduces the process of forming and developing KIST and VKIST’s paradigms. He not only mentioned Vietnam’s outstanding S&T achievements in socio-economic development over the past years but also analyzed and pointed out the importance of manufacturing in Vietnam’s economic development, the proportion of manufacturing industry in the country’s GDP and VKIST's vision in the future. To build up a professional operating system that creates high labor productivity, VKIST staff should highly concentrate and take full responsibility at work, at the same time self-improve professional capacity through periodic training programs - the President emphasized.

After each lecture, the trainees had the opportunity to exchange, discuss and raise questions related to each training session, then the lecturers answered and instructed how to solve problem(s), in particular through the exercises to help trainees understand the core issues and apply to the actual situation at VKIST.
