Strengthening comprehensive bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Korea

General response strategy and productivity improvement in the context of industrial revolution 4.0; The impact of the South Korean Government's policy on Vietnam's economy is the content at the meeting between Minister Chu Ngoc Anh with Mr. Jin Pyo Kim, National Assembly Member, Former Deputy Prime Minister of Korea on August 7, 2019 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).

At the meeting, Minister Chu Ngoc Anh congratulated Korea's socio-economic achievements, bringing Korea to become a leading developed economy in the world with per capita income reaching level. S&T cooperation between Vietnam and Korea is being strengthened and achieved high efficiency since the 8th meeting of Ministerial S&T cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea held in March 2018 on the occasion of the President of Korea. Through joint research activities, Vietnamese researchers have access to new concepts in science, research methods, new techniques, advanced techniques, systems of equipment and laboratories. The Minister also informed about the VKIST Project, including the fact that South Korea was active and supported to nominate TS. Kum Dong-wha, former President of KIST, Korea is the Director of VKIST. The Minister believes that, with his experience and enthusiasm, Dr. Kum Dong-wha will build and lead VKIST successfully, becoming Vietnam's leading research institute, towards the industrial technology.

Regarding the general response strategy and productivity improvement in the context of industrial revolution 4.0, Minister Chu Ngoc Anh highly appreciated the cooperation of the Korea Productivity Center (KPC) in assisting Vietnam to attend and implement projects of Asian Productivity Organization (APO) as well as bilateral cooperation. Minister Chu Ngoc Anh also expressed his joy when recently, on August 6, 2019, the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ) and KPC signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of productivity. The Minister believes that the two sides will effectively implement the signed contents and towards the Ministry of Science and Technology will create favorable conditions for cooperation between resettlement and KPC smoothly and successfully.

At the meeting, Mr. Jin Pyo Kim, Member of the National Assembly, Former Deputy Prime Minister of Korea, said that he would share and support Vietnam to implement “the Master Plan on productivity towards development based on bright innovation". In addition, it will support the connection of large corporations and companies that are applying smart production models to learn experiences and support Vietnam to build a smart production program based on the Korea’s Model; Visiting learning smart production systems in Korea.

Besides, Mr. Jin Pyo Kim also emphasized the South Policy of the Korean Government. Accordingly, in 2017, the government of South Korean President Mun Chein announced “the New South Policy" to improve relations with ASEAN countries, as well as India and Pakistan.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Chu Ngoc Anh affirmed that the Ministry of Science and Technology and individuals of the Minister always believed and nurtured the strategic relationship between Vietnam and Korea. The Minister also agreed with the proposals of KPC on cooperation with STAMEQ. The Ministry of Science and Technology recognized and supported the two sides' cooperation and asked STAMEQ to continue talking with KPC to implement specific activities in the future.
