In the framework of the 12th Scientific and Technological Meeting of North Central Region, the mission of Ministry of Science and Technology paid a working visit to Lam Son Sugar Joint Stock Company, Thanh Hoa.
Attending the Conference were leaders of ministries, local leaders, institutes, scientists, especially enterprises inside and outside the region.
The North Central Region consists of 6 provinces include Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue with quite unique geographical position, creating the geo-economic and geopolitical advantages of the region. Located on arterial roads of the whole country, the North Central Region is the bridge between the Northern provinces and the Southern provinces, between the key economic provinces of the North and the key economic provinces of Central region, is an important bridge in the economic development strategy along the North-South axis.
Science and Technology activities of the provinces in the region in recent years have contributed to the socio-economic development of each province in particular and the whole region in general. Many issues have been studied, creating a scientific basis for Party Committees at all levels and the Government to better manage, administer, plan guidelines and policies for socio-economic development in the province. State management activities in the fields of Science and Technology such as Quality Measurement Standards, Radiation and Nuclear Safety, technology management, intellectual property management, inspection ... are focused and basically meet the requirements of reality.
Since the Government decided to invest and put into operation Ho Chi Minh road through the territory of 28 provinces and cities, all 6 provinces in the region have a road through which has created a vast production area along the Ho Chi Minh road corridor, including 24 districts and towns. This is a region with great potential for land, large forestry land, gathering national parks and nature reserves; This is a region with high biodiversity and a rich source of medicinal plants... suitable for developing agriculture towards modernization and sustainability.
The biggest advantage of this corridor is the condition for developing agriculture on a large scale. The highlight in this region is there are a number of large enterprises that have pioneered a methodical investment, developed along the value chain, creating a great influence, attracting people to participate.

The development of industrialized agriculture along the Ho Chi Minh road creates favorable prospects for socio-economic development in general as well as the development of industrialized agriculture of the Region in particular. According to the report on the economic development of the provinces in the region, there have been many changes since the road was put into use, so far, many businesses have been formed and attracted (3,587 enterprises. However, in general, the development of production and business along the road corridor is still small and fragmented. Except for a few enterprises with large investment in technology, producing a number of products on a commodity scale, the rest are producing very primitive, not many products to supply the market.
Therefore, the organization of this Scientific Conference will be an opportunity for ministries, leaders of localities, institutes, scientists, especially enterprises in and outside the region to discuss about potential, advantages and challenges of the region in agricultural development, and discuss about new ways of organizing and promoting new advantages of the region. This is also a forum for managers to listen to businesses about their development capabilities, desires and product development orientations in the Ho Chi Minh road corridor of North Central region.
At the Conference, the participants will discuss to identify key issues and appropriate S&T solutions for the development of agriculture and industrialization of the Ho Chi Minh road corridor across the North Central region contributes to the local and regional socio-economic development. In particular, the leaders of the provinces will express their views as well as look forward to the cooperation between localities in order to form a real production area for the Ho Chi Minh road corridor.
Hopefully, the Conference is one of the activities that in future Ho Chi Minh road corridor in North Central region in particular and the whole road in general will have new development, more businesses are strong enough to invest more models of linking production of products with new technologies, applying high technologies, especially organizing production according to the value chain to ensure the efficiency and thorough use of products and by-products during the production process, harvesting and processing.
