Speaking at the beginning of the program, President Kum Dongwha was pleased to welcome new researchers to VKIST. He also expressed optimism and belief in the brilliant future ahead when there are new talents joining VKIST and contributing to the thriving of the Institute in the future.

Within the scope of this orientation program, VKIST has blended lectures with various activities to maintain an exciting and enthusiastic learning atmosphere. A wide breadth of activities includes presentations introducing the overview, financial mechanism and R&D plan of VKIST for the second half of 2020 in the fields of herbal products, electronics, information technology and biosensors. Especially, new researchers are interested in the lecture of Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Song on development of a research project proposal as well as KIST expert’s presentation on the history of the KIST and VKIST. Interwoven with the lectures was field trips to headquarters of Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park Management Board, VKIST construction site, Hanwha Aero Engines Co. Ltd. and Medlac Pharmaceutical Company.

At the end of this short-term orientation program, new researchers had the opportunity to reflect upon this rewarding experience and evaluated what they had gained in the form of a short presentation. The excellent performance of the new researchers during presentation session showed that the orientation program achieved a great success in providing new researchers with basic knowledge about VKIST and VKIST R&D activities. This also helped new staff to develop their own plans in accordance with VKIST's goals and future directions.

On the basis of seriously evaluating pros and cons of this orientation program, VKIST will endeavor to improve the training program for new staff in the future. This orientation program in particular and VKIST's training activities in general will be maintained regularly in order to build a strong workforce, which is the core for VKIST's development, helping to affirm the position of VKIST as “a leader of technical solution provider for market winners”, and as the symbol of cooperation between Vietnam and Korea.
