At the meeting, both sides were pleased to share the results achieved in Phase 1 of VKIST Project. During the period from 2018 until now, VKIST has been developing its organizational structure and infrastructure to facilitate the implementation of research and development activities. On that basis, both sides would like to promote further cooperation in 2022 including the following activities:
- Establish KIST Office at VKIST to promote connection between both Institutes as well as facilitate KIST reaching out to and cooperating with Vietnamese enterprises;
- Organize annual seminars and workshops for researchers of VKIST and KIST exchanging expertise and experience in those fields that both sides share common interest; later on, scale up these types of seminars and workshops to invite other S&T organizations and enterprises of both countries to attend;
- Arrange the business trip of KIST Leaders to VKIST in May, 2022 to discuss issues related to the VKIST Project and attending the 5-year anniversary of VKIST together with the 1st annual seminar between VKIST and KIST;
- Invite KIST to participate in the Vietnam Artificial Intelligent Day held in August, 2022;
- Support VKIST to connect to K-Club and collaborate to organize a seminar on technology transfer in Vietnam within the 2nd half of 2022.
Both Leaders highly appreciated the ideas posed by each side and agreed that these ideas put into action would leverage the strategic cooperation between VKIST and KIST in particular and between S&T organizations and enterprises of Vietnam and Korea in general. Besides, further cooperation between two Institutes is expected to support VKIST developing following the directions and expectation of both Governments. Moreover, this well-established relationship will make VKIST become a hub connecting S&T communities of two countries.
At the end of the meeting, VKIST President Bui The Duy expressed his sincere appreciation to the support of KIST for his proposals. At the same time, Mr. Duy would like both sides to kick off the agreed plan at the soonest time. Meanwhile, KIST Vice President was pleased that both sides reached a consensus on several issues. She also affirmed that KIST would work closely with VKIST to develop detailed implementation plan in both short-term and long-term period to put agreed plan into action.
