Groundbreaking Ceremony of Vietnam – Korea Institute of Science and Technology

Korea President Moon Jae-in emphasized, Vietnam can take a step toward the industrialise and modernized dream. The experience gained in the industrialization period of Korea will aid Vietnam in carrying out the dreams.

At the Ceremony, Korea President Moon Jae-in made an insightful and meaningful enunciation, emphasizing the organisation of the Groundbreaking Ceremony today is an important milestone in the support for developing the Science and Technology of Vietnam as well as the close relationship of Vietnam – Korea in all filiations, fields. The increased in cooperation to boost economic development of Vietnam through Science and Technology is a proof for the new Southernise policy of Korea leading to the thrive of both sides. On March 22, at Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park in Hanoi, Ministry of Sciece and Technology and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) co-held a ground-breaking ceremony for the Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology (VKIST).

Attending the ceremony from the Korea side there is President Moon Jae-in, Minister of External Affair Kang Kyung-wa, Minister of Science – Information technology and Communication You Young Min with leaders of related organisations of Korea. On the Vietnam side there are Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh, Chủ nhiệm Văn phòng Chủ tịch nước Đào Việt Trung, together with Representatives of Ministries, Departments from Vietnam such as Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Health, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi People’s Committee...

After 5 years of preparation, with the effort from both sides, the Groundbreaking Ceremony of VKIST, one of the biggest non-refundable project of Korea for Vietnam until now in order to promote the cooperative relationship of Science and Technology between the two countries. Organising the Groundbreaking Ceremony exactly when President Moon Jae In and mistress makes their State visit in Vietnam shows the concern of superior leaders from both countries with this project.

Ms Lee Miuk Yung, Chairman of Korea International Cooperation Agency informed information of the project schedule in his speech, asserting the strategic Cooperative relationship, the cooperation between the two countries has achieved great results on all fields, including Science and Technology.

Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngọc Anh enunciated at the Groundbreaking Ceremony.

Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngọc Anh informed: Ministry of Science and Technology was given the mission of building and managing the operation and activities of VKIST by the State. With the support from Korea, especially through the project deployment plan of Korea International Cooperation Agency, Ministry of Science and Technology expected, with such significant support, VKIST will become a role model for the friendliness between Vietnam - Korea. To be able to execute that, Ministry of Science and Technology had built an operation plan for VKIST to approach the international model with a proper route, aiming to develop science to serve production industries in Vietnam.

Annunciated at the Groundbreaking Ceremony, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh was pleased to be at the location of the VKIST headquarters in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park, the place that is expected to become a Science and Technology City of Vietnam. Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh informed: “We are happy to realize, the cooperative relationship between Vietnam – Korea within the last 25 years, especially since the strategic cooperative Partners relationship established in 2009, there were significant developments. Today, we are delightful to witness another meaningful achievement of the great relationship between our countries. I believe that with the mission and vision to become a leading multi filiations, multi fields science and technology organisation of researching application science and develop advanced technology, VKIST when going into operation will take up an important role in providing business technology solution, efficiently serve industries and the stable development of Vietnam, while at the same time being the incubator of science and technology and about talents for Vietnam”.

Occasionally, Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh expressed her gratitude to Korea and its people for reserving aid for this friendly, practical and important construction – VKIST. The Vice President also suggested concerned agencies of both sides cooperate closely to ensure the project schedule to be on time with high quality, taking this project to become the role model for the cooperation between Vietnam – Korea.

The most important expected event is when Leaders of two governments perform the groundbreaking ceremony ritual of VKIST together under the witness of invited guests. This is the boldest proof for the successful cooperation of both Vietnam – Korea.
