Attending the meeting there were Dr. Kum Dongwha, VKIST President and VKIST’s Heads of Divisions; Mr. Kim Dong Bae, Counselor of the Korean Embassy; Ms. Seo Mi Yeong, KOICA's Deputy Country Director, Korean officials and representatives of Korean construction experts and contractors.
The visit of the Korean Embassy and KOICA was to share measures to boost up the VKIST project's progress and exchange its future vision as a “Leading Institute in research development on applied science and advanced technologies fused with sustainable economic advancement” in the future.
Overview of the meeting
At the meeting, President Kum Dongwha expressed his delight and highly appreciated the visit and working session of the Korean Embassy and KOICA to VKIST. He also thanked the parties for attention and continued support over the past time, which is a great encouragement for VKIST. According to Dr. Kum Dongwha, this meeting would be a good opportunity to further expand the good relationship between Korea and Vietnam in science and technology (S&T). This is also an opportunity for the Parties to better understand the project implementation situation and coordinate to prepare the project packaging procedures.

Mr. Kim Dong Bae, Counselor of the Korean Embassy thanked VKIST for receiving the delegation and highly appreciated VKIST’s cooperation in recent years. Mr. Kim Dong Bae also affirmed that the completion of VKIST Project is the first step for further cooperation in science and technology between the two countries. The Korean side pledged to continue to review programs and projects to support the management and operation of VKIST after completion.

Also at the meeting, the two Parties exchanged and discussed issues related to VKIST project’s progress and quality, the plan for project closing and expected Phase 2. The Parties’ leaders also agreed that in the future there should be more cooperation opportunities of implementing high applicable and significant projects in S&T field.

After the meeting, the Parties visited VKIST’s buildings including research labs to grasp the current construction status and exchange directions for timely adjustments and supplements if needed.
