VKIST visited the Doping Control Center (DCC) at KIST

Within the framework of a business trip to Korea of VKIST Leaders, on November 10, 2022, the VKIST delegation has visited Doping Control Center (DCC) at KIST to discuss the cooperation opportunities between two organizations in the field of analyzing and determining doping components in food samples for doping control for athletes.

Attending the meeting, on Vietnamese side, there were Mr. Vu Duc Loi – Vice President of VKIST and other VKIST members. On Korean side, there were Mr. Junghyun Son - Director of DCC and other leaders and experts of the Center.

Mr. Vu Duc Loi - Vice President of VKIST thanked DCC for warmly welcoming the VKIST delegation. He highly appreciated the operation results of DCC, which is the world's leading doping center, with a team of experienced experts, equipped with modern machinery. He hoped that this visit would lay the foundation for a long-term cooperation relationship between two organizations in the future.

At the meeting, VKIST proposed to cooperate with DCC in analyzing and determining doping components in food samples for doping control for athletes and annual doping analysis in Vietnam. “VKIST hopes to cooperate with DCC to connect related organizations of both sides and help each other in the fight against doping in sports in the two countries” – shared Mr. Vu Duc Loi.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Junghyun Son - Director of DCC expressed his pleasure and appreciation for VKIST's visit. “The Doping Control Center was established in 1984 with the function of researching, testing, preventing and combating doping in physical education and sports. DCC always aims to build purity and sustainability in sports. DCC has a system of modern equipment, which can analyze all doping-related indicators with high accuracy, control of doping in athletes' food is necessary and must be controlled. DCC is willing to cooperate and support VKIST in doping control in Vietnam and building a doping control laboratory in food as well as in cooperation in analysis and doping control in Vietnam” – shared Mr. Junghyun Son.

At the meeting, the two sides have discussed and agreed on cooperation contents on implementing annual doping testing; testing and evaluating the safety and effectiveness of functional foods to support athletes and people participating in physical training and sports activities. The two sides also agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to promote research and development activities; provide technology support and open a laboratory for the analysis of doping-related substances in food.

The two sides believe that this visit is not only a new opportunity for cooperation and development for both sides, but also makes a positive contribution to anti-doping work and towards the fair-play movement in sport.
